Juliana is a professional belly dancer based out of Philadelphia, PA, and has performed on stages big and small, in haflas, and in restaurants and venues across the midwestern and northeastern United States. She started belly dancing in 2006 in a belly dance club called USMED at Truman State University. She fell in love with belly dancing with the first class that she took. She was struck by its history and the strength, femininity, and honesty that the dance reveals in each person. Juliana has learned from great belly dancers from around the world and has studied many forms of the dance including Classic Oriental (raqs sharqui), American Cabaret, Egyptian and Tunisian Folkloric, and American Tribal Fusion.
Juliana teaches private belly dance and yoga lessons in Philadelphia, PA. She is a facilitator, teacher, and choreographer for the Philadelphia chapter of Public Urban Ritual Experiment, a dance movement started by Kaeshi Chai in New York City and is a carnival crew member in the Carnival de Resistance, a traveling circus created by Tevyn East and Jay Beck in Philadelphia.
